Carl Sagan on our Place in the Scheme of Things

Here’s a video about our place in the cosmos, and how we need to protect it and live more consciously of its – and our – fragility.

The key image was taken by Voyager 1 on 14 February 1990, just as it was starting to move into the outer limits of our Solar System. The spacecraft was turned around to capture one last view of an Earth, at that point in the odyssey, appearing to be less than the size of a pixel.

The commentary is by astronomer Carl Sagan (1934-1996), and was the epilogue of his revolutionary TV series about astronomy Cosmos:
